Every bit of new knowledge or new idea about the game and how to play it can give you the edge you need to succeed. We have all got to be willing to try new things in order to grow and improve. Much of my young life was devoted to finding the knowledge I needed to become a great pool player. As a result of that dedicated search, I did learn a lot about the game from other great players and from my own direct experience.

Playing game with mindfulness is the best teacher. Combined with knowledge learned from others and your own mindful approach to each shot, your game can only get better with each practice or playing session.

Zen is a branch of Mahayana Buddhism which strongly emphasizes the practice of moment by moment awareness and of 'seeing deeply into the nature of things' by direct experience. Zen thinking asserts that enlightenment can be attained through meditation, self contemplation, and intuition.

Playing pool is very 'Zen' in that it does require your present moment awareness, the enlightenment that comes from the accumulation of direct experience, and the contemplation of the many nuances which are inherent in the game.

This book is a collection of most of the instructional articles I have written over the last 10 years and represent many of the golden nuggets of Zen learning which I have been so blessed to accumulate.
